About Us

La Plata Archuleta Water District exists to provide essential, reliable and safe potable public water and fire protection water in southeast La Plata County and possibly southwest Archuleta County. Many properties in the area do not have the availability of a viable well or suitable quality of water, requiring residents to haul water for domestic use.

LAPLAWD values the opinions of property owners and residents of the district. All Board of Directors meetings are open to the public, except legally allowed Executive Sessions. Time for public comment is made on each meeting agenda. Regular board meetings are on the second Thursday of each month, 9 a.m., La Plata Archuleta Water District Office, 255 Ute Street, Ignacio CO.

The board sets public meetings to gather input and provide information, and institutes task forces to develop ideas for specific aspects of building and running the domestic water supply system. Those will be posted here and publicized in the district.
